My hometown Ebino

Today I went back to my hometown, Ebino in Miyazaki. I have spent good time in Miyazaki.
I bought some foods for my family. They are ikinaridango and jindaiko. A friend of mine took me to Kobai in Hakuzan street and I bought "jindaiko" for my grandparents and parents yesterday. I bought ikinaridango in Kumamoto Bus Terminal today. It was still hot when I bought ikinaridango there. I like it and I bought for me too.
I want to spend a good time with my family and I'm looking forward to see old friends of mine next week. (96 words)

two movies

There are two movies which I want to watch. One of them is "new moon, the twilight saga." I read the original book, so I want to watch it. The trailer was really fascinating me. The other is "A Christmas Carol" because I learned about it and the author, Charles Dickens, in English literature class. A friend of mine said it was great and I should watch. It seems like animation and one of the character is similar to Jim Carry. I really want to watch those movies, however, I don't have enough time to go to a cinema. I have a lot of homework, so I have to finish them. I think I can't go to a cinema until the end of the year. If it that true, I'm going to lend it at TSUTAYA next year. The back of the Titanic was rising out of the ocean. The front of the ship was
going down. Jack tried to go around the smokestack without falling. In the dark, he could barely see the tree house. It was stuck between a smokestack and railing. It was lying on its side.

Jack and Annie went to the Titanic. I knew the story of the Titanic and the difference in social standing at the age. Though I knew that, it was disappointing for me that many third-class passengers didn't have a chance to get into the lifeboats. Then, Annie and Jack were brave and wise because they decided to help third-class passengers escape.  Even if their kindness made them put in danger.

Let me tell you about  the Twilight.

I stared because their faces, so different, so similar, were all devastatingly,
inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you ever expected to see except perhaps on
the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine. Or painted by an old master as the
face of an angel.

It's a first of the Twilight saga. It took me for only four days to finish reading. You will be fascinated the story and finish reading it in a short time. It's a story between a human girl, Bella and a vampire boy, Edward. Edward's family is good vampires for human, but there are many bad vampires for human. It was so scary for me that, one of the bad vampires, Laurent considered Bella as snack for vampires.

I read Romeo and Juliet because this story is important to read the Twilight saga. There are many quotations of Romeo and Juliet in the Twilight saga. So I wanted to know and read it deeply. Edward and Bella are really similar to Romeo and Juliet except in their death.
At first, I thought Romeo was very cowardly and effeminate. However, he was a skilled swordsman. It was cool but his power became one of the causes of the tragedy. His love for her was passionate and her love for him, too. (151 words)

My plan

I am going to stay on December 24th and 25th with friends of mine. I think that we will start hanging out from 24th evening. I want to play TV games and go to karaoke with them. After we enjoy it, we will have dinner nabe and cake which are cooked by us. I really looking forward to staying the days. On December 26th, I will go back to my hometown, Miyazaki. Then I'm going to book an bus to Miyazaki today. I think the end of year is popular because many people go back their hometown, so I want to book as soon as possible. My grandparent told me that they would come to bus stop where I took off. I'm glad to see them and I want to buy something which are famous in Kumamoto for them. I plan to buy ikinaridago and Jindaiko. My parents and grandparents like Jindaiko very much and I like ikinaridago. (158 words)

Speaking Ⅳ~agree and disagree~

My group member is Misaki, Sanae and me. We think that a mini mall is needed at KGU. There are many kinds of shops in it and we think it is useful for students. We asked some students ten questions and got various answers. They are good answers and help us for the discussion.
There are four ideas about a mini mall on campus. Firstly, fast food shops should be there. Many students said that the school cafeteria, the Lawson and the bakery were crowded on lunch time. It is hard for us to have lunch calmly and buy foods quickly. Some exchange students who are from English-speaking countries also said they wanted to have fast foods. We think that we need more western-style shops for exchange students in a mini mall. There are no fast food shops near KGU and it is good to be on campus. We think that MacDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken are desirable.
Secondly, the mall should open on weekends and holidays. Most of food shops on campus close on weekends and holidays. When we come to school on that day, we have to buy foods at the Lawson or go to a restaurant outside campus. Then, we can buy foods on campus if there is a mini mall. In addition, students, who are busy and have no time to enjoy shopping on weekdays, can enjoy shopping for a long time instead of weekdays.
Thirdly, we expect cell phone shops on the mall. And mainstream cell phone companies are needed; au, docomo and Softbank. These days, most of students carry their cell phones everyday and think that it’s necessary for them to make contact with their friends or families with their cell phones. If they make some troubles, students will feel inconvenience or stressed. Students, who are busy with their part time job, don’t have enough time to go to a cell phone shops even if they want to change a model of a cell phone or fix their one. In case of emergency, the cell phone shops are useful for them. In addition, it’s effective to repair their cell phones during a class. We can make use of time.
Finally, we also need a 100-yen shop in the mall. Almost students fell that they need money and they have a part time job. Ant they save money by not using much money on shopping. Regarding that, a 100-yen shop is useful for them. It will be helpful for students who live by themselves.
The mini mall includes various kinds of shops, and it will make students delight. It also becomes an essential building on campus. According to these reasons, I think it’s worth opening the mall at KGU.



I have three ideas and reasons why I disagree with statements of Arisa, Mayu and Misato’s group. Firstly, I think that lockers should not be placed on campus because some students may occupy every locker for a long time. Then, others can’t use lockers and it’s not fair.
Secondly, I think that we don’t need more vending machines. It is useful to get some drinks but empty cans will increase. Then, they will be left everywhere on campus and make KGU seem dirty.
Thirdly, I think that we don’t need an underpass. On rainy day, many people will use the underpass and it will be crowded. So it’s uncomfortable to walk a crowded place. In addition, it’s dangerous that the floor is slippery because of moisture. As you can see, I disagree with their statements, and I think that we should make a mini mall than lockers, vending machines and an underpass at KGU.

Apple cake

I made an apple cake yesterday. It was a first time I made it so I was very excited. It was the reason why I decided to cook; my aunt gave me a big apple a month ago. I thought I couldn't eat all of it when I eat it naturally. Then I decided to cook it as a dessert. I wanted to make it easily as possible so I searched the recipe on the Web site. I found a good recipe which used a pancake mix and rice cooker!

This is the recipe. First, cut an apple; peal half the apple. Next, boil them with sugar and butter for about ten minutes. Then, mix an egg, a cup of milk, some boiled apples and a pancake mix. After that, lay the others with its skin on a bottom of rice cooker. Finally, bake it for about forty minutes. That's all and it is really easy to cook. (158 words)

Unlucky day

I feel yesterday was an unlucky day because I experienced two dangerous happenings. One of them was really dangerous. I rode on my bicycle at 7 p.m. to go to school library to study. Then, I wanted to across the street without using signals. I only took care to see cars so I didn't look my right sight corner. I tried to turn the corner but I didn't far away from it. Then I crushed the corner and I was likely to fall off my bicycle! I tried not to do that and kept a balance. I got embarrassed to do that because many cars and people were there.

The other was the way to home from studying at the library. I twisted my ankle at the flat way. Two students were my back so they might see that. So I think yesterday was unlucky day... (147 words)

Nov. 24th

Yesterday, one of my circle members, two of my senior and I sit around a one-pot meal which was kimchi taste. The kimchi taste was very spicy but tasted great. The first purpose of gathering was to play video games; Wii. The Wii is mine and my parents brought it when they came to Kumamoto. Then I offered them who liked video games to play them.

We played Mario carts, Mario party 4 and 7, and Will sports. I'm good at playing Mario cart so I won almost games.

Gift from my aunt

Last Sunday a parcel from my aunt who lives in Tochigi arrived. When I went to Nagasaki, she told me to send new rice when she could get it in Tochigi. Last Friday, she called me and told me that she sent new rice.
I was so surprised when I opened the parcel! There were many things in it. For example, ramen, spaghetti, tunas in can, many snacks, an apple, a big Japanese pear, two Japanese persimmon and so on. I was very happy because these foods are useful to me live by myself. After that, I called her to say thank you very much. She laughed about me because I was excited to tell my feeling.
I ate one of her gifts, ramen at that night. It was a ramen which was made from a famous ramen shop in Tochigi. It tasted great and I enjoyed dinner. (147 words)

The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Stories

Then he spoke words that I will never forget. “Now do you hear it? I heard it. I
have heard it for many minutes, many hours, and many days, but I could not
speak. Now I am telling you. She was alive when we put her in the tomb! Will she
be here soon? Is she coming to punish me? Can I hear her feet on the stairs? Can
I hear the sound of her heart?”

It was a first time I read novels written by Poe. I learned about Poe last semester and I thought that I wanted to read his novels. I found this novel which was retold to read easily by a writer in the library. Then I decided to read it soon. It is consisted of five storied; The Fall of the House of Usher, The Maelstrom, The Barrel of Amontillado, The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Stolen Letter.
Firstly I read “The Fall of the House of Usher.” I think it is one of the most famous novels of Poe’s. I watched the movie a little when I learned about him. It was so scaring and dark movie to me. I especially scared Madeline and Usher and I think I can’t live with them even if Usher is a friend of mine. If I have to take care of him, I may take him out from the house. It was weird that a story of Ethelred and their condition had a similar circumstance.

Next, I read "The Maelstrom" and it was weird story too. It seems like a Japanese old story, Urashimataro. The old man said that he became old when he realized. I couldn't understand the true meaning of the story.
Then, I read "The Barrel of Amontillado." It was a story of murder. The beginning was filled with Monstresor's hate for Fortunato. It was easy to understand how Monstresor desired to kill Fortunato. In addition, Monstresor had a brutal personality because he pretended that they were good friends even if he thought of Fortunato's death. The end of the story was terrifying. There might be something in the tombs.

Next, I read "The Murders in the Rue Morgue." It was a brighter story than the other stories. The process of solving mystery was interesting. It was impossible to clarify the murder's nationality because there were many testimony to it. Many readers may think that the murder is human. However, he was not a human but an orangutan! It was easy to satisfy readers about the testimony.

Finally, I read "The Stolen Letter." It is so hard for me to understand what "D---" and "G---" mean. I want to ask someone, who are a English speaker, about the meaning if I have a opportunity. (452 words)

I asked some exchange students who are from English-speaking countries to get information for questions. One of them said that he needs more fast food shops, for example, MacDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and so on. He said that he wanted to eat pizza and sandwich in KGU. The bakery sold some sandwiches but he said he needed more kinds of them. I think that we need more western-style shops for exchange students in a mini mall.
This is a reason why we need stores on campus. We don't have to go to the downtown or Clair to buy something we need. All of students who I asked said it was useful that a mini mall open on holidays and weekends. Almost stores on campus close on weekends.
Working at a mini mall is useful to students who live far away from KGU and have class by 5th period. They can work there after the class. (154 words)

My favorite dish

This is one of my favorite dishes so I make it once a week. It is really easy to make, let's try!

Here is ingredients for 4 people; four potatoes, eight sausages, a half onion, five tablespoons of starch, two tbsps of sugar and soy sauce, one tbsp of cooking alcohol and vinegar and smack of salt and pepper.

Here is a recipe. First of all, you heat cut potatoes in a microwave oven for four minutes. Then, you saute them over medium heat for about two minute. After you brown them lightly, you remove from frying pan and put them on a dish. Next you saute cut sausage and onion. Finally, you put the browned potato into them and add the seasoning. That's all!

The salty-sweet potato is good and it goes well with rice. (134 words and total 8,035 words)

Takuma festival

Last week, there was a Takuma festival at KGU. I attended the festival as a member of Aokastu which I belong to. It was more exciting and wonderful than last year for me. We sold potato and tapioca like last year. This year we sold tapioca only and we added many tastes for tapioca. For example, it was chocolate, calpis, vanilla, orange juice, apple juice, caramel, milk tea, lemon tea and strawberry milk. Caramel was the most popular taste in our shop. I recommended it to people who went to the festival as I sold tapioca to them. During the festival, I often prepared tapioca. Tapioca which is enable to be eaten was difficult to make. (116 words)

Pamela

Oh my parents! I didn't know what to say! But now I think I understand why I
don't hate him. I'm afraid I'm beginning to love this gentle Mr. B. But don't
worry, I won't lose my virtue now.

I leaned about "Pamela" in a British literary history class. I wanted to read it because I liked love story and I wanted to know why "Shamela Andrews" was written after "Pamela" was published. It was easy to understand Pamela who is a maid in a big country house and Mr. B who her mistress's son's feeling because this story was written in an epistolary style. So we could read it through their letters. It was a first time I read the novel like it.

The subtitle of "Pamela" is "Virtue Rewarded." I think that Pamela excessively insisted on keeping her virtue from Mr. B. I think she was scared to accept her love for him. Then she escaped from him and tried to go home. I couldn't cotton to her character. I think Mr. B might judged her by her appearance.

It was interesting and I want to read "Shamela" soon.

My circle activities

On last Saturday and Sunday, there was a training for Takuma festival in a Nishigoshi accommodation. My circle members will sell tapioca at Takuma festival. Then we trained to make tapioca and soft drink.

It was interesting and enjoyable training to me. Some seniors had good ideas and it was to make a smoothie. It was fascinating to a friend of mine and me that the process of making smoothie by using a mixer. Then we took pictures by our cell phones many times. Her cell phone had good camera and she took better pictures than me. We made not only smoothie but also various kinds of tastes. For example, it was milk coffee, hot chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and so on. My favorite taste was vanilla which was made from condensed milk because I like it very much. After we made them, we held a sampling session. We discussed about points for their improvement. I hope that we could make use of the points to the festival day.

After that, we made our store signs and containers for vendors. Then I talked to some freshmen who I had never talked. I was glad to talk to them and became friends with them.

I had a good time with my circle members. I’m looking forward to Takuma festival. (217 words and total 7,596 words)

One of my favorite movies is “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” It is the third work in the High School Musical series and the first and second ones were broadcasted on Disney Channel in the United States. The cast is Zac Efron who played Troy and Vanessa Hudgens who played Gabriella. They are lovers the same as the role. The director is Kenny Ortega. It is not just a musical youth movie. In my view, the movie’s main theme is to find meanings of high school after high school students overcame their conflicted feeling. There are three songs which well illustrate it in the movie.
The first is “Scream.” It is sung by Troy who is the main character. He likes basketball and belongs to a basketball club. He also likes playing and singing. In addition, he loves Gabriella and he wants to be with her for the rest of his life. The song seems to mean that he is likely to be crushed by expectations from his father and want to run away from them. In other words, he is conflicted between the idea and reality. The song well describes the conflicted feeling of high school students.
The second is “Can I Have This Dance.” It is a prom song and sung by Troy and Gabriella with dancing. She thought that it was the best way to break up with him but she keenly felt the importance of him after she separated from him. They sang the song after they took their decisions. The prom is a rite of passage into adulthood. The conflicted feeling in high school life is important to become an adult. The prom in the movie shows that they overcame their conflicted feeling and matured mentally. The song is very calm and fantastic by comparison with other songs. It also means that they are not like children but they are near adults.
The third is “High School Musical.” It is sung by the senior high school students at the commencement exercise. My favorite scene of the movie is their dance to the song at that time. The positive song surely makes viewers happy. At the same time, they dance with refreshed and smiling faces so it is impressive for me. The song describes the students’ own conclusion about the meaning of high school. High school is the best step from which to go forward into the future and graduation from high school is not the end but the beginning. They can only make a first step toward their future if they experienced and overcame their hard feelings.

Yesterday, I made a cha-men of "Shikairou." Shikairou is a famous restaurant in Nagasaki and birthplace of chanpon. When I went to Nagasaki, my family was going to have a lunch at Shikairou. However, it is a popular restaurant so we had to wait more then one hour. Then we decided to give up to wait in a queue. I really wanted to have the cuisine. Then my mother bought a restaurant quality food to go for me.

It was easy to cook and delicious. I want to have it at Shikairou someday. (92 words)

After I read “Anne of Green Gables,” I became to love Anne. She was really an honest and thoughtful girl. At the beginning of the story, she was poor because Marilla said that she didn’t want Anne. Anne had experienced unhappy life and she wasn’t needed every time. So it was good to her that Marilla and Matthew decided to stay with her. She was too honest so she made mistakes sometimes. However, I think it is one of her strong points not weak points. Her green hair made me surprised because it was impossible to be green hair. I wondered what color her hair was. It may not describe in detail. The book ended at the scene which Anne and Gilbert became a friend. I thought that he loved her. Then I searched about that, I had my expectations met. She got married to him. I want to read the original book. (229 words)

Last Saturday

My cousin's wedding ceremony and wedding reception were hold in Nagasaki. My cousin's husband is from Nagasaki so they hold there. The wedding ceremony was hold at "Oura Church" or "Ouratensyudo" in Japanese. It is the oldest church in Japan and it is a national treasure.

It was really great ceremony. I could meet my cousins who I didn't see for a long time. It was good to me to talk with them.

Then, we attended the wedding reception. It was held near Oura Church. Her husband's friend was making really funny speech and it made me happy. The banquet was great and I ate almost all of them. I couldn't have those dinner normally.

After that, my cousins, family and I went to a hotel. It was located along hillside so it had a great view.

GRATIN AND GRATIN!

These days, I wanted to cook and eat gratin very much. So I decided to cook two kinds of gratin. One was udon gratin and the other was potato gratin. On last Tuesday, I cooked udon gratin which I had never eaten. It was really easy to cook because it took only fifteen minutes to cook and ten minutes to bake. After the gratin was baked, I eat it soon even if it was hot. It tasted good and it became one of my favorite dishes. I wanted to eat it by many people.

I cooked potato gratin yesterday. The way of making it was almost same as udon gratin because I made some white sauce. The gratin was delicious too, I regretted because I didn't felt enough after I finished eating it. I want to try to cook various kinds of grain!! (144 words)

In this story, Jack and Annie were not in danger. In stead of them, Black Hawk who was their friend was facing danger. He seemed to show his bravery to them but he couldn't do that.

It made me feel sad that the number of Bison was decreasing because of immigrants. Black's family saved Bison to restrict hunting. Fortunately, some people realized the fact that Bison was likely to die out. It was a good story to recognize the selfishness of human to animal anew.

A staff of wedding

Yesterday, I worked as a staff of wedding at KKR. It was a first time to work and I became tense. I went there with a friend of mine, Noriko. She introduced it to me because of lack of the staff. I wanted to work at a wedding hall for once so I decided to go there.
After we arrived, we were said to wear a Chinese silk dress! I was very surprised because I had never worn it. Then, she taught me to pour champagne into glasses. It was difficult not to spill it. After I practiced to do that, the work started. I was get into a panic but I had to work. Unexpectedly, I made a mistake to greet guests. Sometimes I was warned to find something to do by myself but I could finish working without big mistakes. It was a great opportunity to me. (148 words and total 5,295 words)

going down. Jack tried to go around the smokestack without falling. In the
dark, he could barely see the tree house. It was stuck between a smokestack and
railing. It was lying on its side.

It was a story at the Titanic. I knew the story of the Titanic and the difference in social standing at the age. Even though I knew that things, it was disappointing for me that many third-class passengers didn't have a chance to get into the lifeboats. Then, Annie and Jack were brave and wise because they decided to help third-class passengers escape. Their kindness made them put in danger like previous stories. It was an unexpected development that a little puppy saved them from danger. I wanted to know his identity and what happened to Morgan. I'm looking forward to read the next story soon.

Sep. 26th

I went to Clair with friends of mine. One of them, Saori, drove her car and took us there. I wanted to buy a clothes for my cousin's wedding ceremony on October 10th. I have never been to a wedding ceremony so I didn't have any clothes for that. A friend of mine told me that there were some shops which sold formal dress. I bought a navy dress, white bolero, pouch and party dress. It cost me more than 60,000 yen. They were too expensive for me but they were so nice and I wanted to use them long time. So I was satisfied with my shopping. Then, we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. I had a pork fried with ginger and soy sauce. It tasted great and made me get full. After we finished eating, we bought several clothes. I bought one checked skirt. After we enjoyed shopping, we went to Mister Doughnut. Then, we went back our houses. I had a good day. (168 words)

My summer vacation

I went back to my hometown Miyazaki. I spent most summer vacation and I also spent with my family. I often drove my mother and grandfather's cars. The traffic was not available and inexpensive in my hometown, so driving own cars was good. I sometimes went to city library by myself and studied for Eiken. At the end of spending in my hometown, I was crazy about Marmalade boy and it was really cool and interesting anime. I went back to Kumamoto in September because I was going to take a TOEIC seminar at KGU. It was great seminar because the teacher explained in English. I would take the seminar from fall semester. I watched one movie in summer vacation. It was 'twilight' which I read the saga. A friend of mine who also liked it lent me the DVD which was special edition. (144 words)

IAICS 3

I reviewed the four days, it was a precious and beneficial experience to me. I thought I experienced a cross-culture. An Chinese participant was spoke English very fast and clearly. In addition, she asked me some questions which I didn't know. So I couldn't answer her questions. Considering from that, I thought she was mad with me and hated my behavior. However, she talked to me friendly and said to me to take a picture with her at the banquet. After that, I recognize that her way of talking was like Chinese. A friend of mine said it was the common Chinese way of talking. I recognized that I misunderstood her and I was glad to know that she wasn't hate me. She told me her e-mail address, so I wanted to send an e-mail soon.
I wanted to study English more and speak English positively. If I can meet her again, I want to talk with her more fluently and confidently. (161 words and total 4,062 words)

IAICS 2

On Friday, it was the first day of conference. I was worked as making coffee for the participants. Two students who went to Kumamoto University and Yurie were too. I arrived at KGU at 8 a.m. and learned to make coffee from Hiroko. She was a freshman in Kumamoto University and was from Nagasaki. Her intonation was a little different from me. For example, she said 'bari' as 'cho.' Making coffee was very easy so I could acquire the skill easily. We made coffee at second floor. There were a few people came there to drink coffee so we were not busy.
At the lunch time, I worked as showing the way to the cafeteria. Some of participants, who I took to the hotel yesterday, remembered me and waved their hands at me with smile. I was very glad to see that. After most people went to the cafeteria, I stopped showing the way and started working as handing out lunch. Then, some of student assistants and I had lunch. I was very hungry so I ate a lot. After we finished eating, we cleaned up the cafeteria. We started making coffee again. There was a past presidents' panel from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. We served drinks to participants. Cleaning up after that was hard but every assistant and teacher worked together.

On Saturday, it was the second day of conference. My work was like the first day.

On Sunday, it was the final day of conference. We worked as making coffee and receptionist for JAFAE. It was a first time I became the receptionist so one of professors helped us. People who wanted to register were most Japanese so I felt a little easy. After that, I worked like the days before. We cleaned up the site from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. After that, we, student assistants, received salaries.
The banquet was held at Hotel Nikko Kumamoto so some students went there by bicycle. I had never been there and the hotel was very impressive. When we arrived there, we went to the rest room. On the way, I found the participants who were from China. They didn't come the conference that day, so I thought they went back to China. They were kind to me so I was sad. So I felt really happy to find them at the banquet. The banqueting hall was great and I enjoyed eating and taking pictures with the participants. The banquet was short to me because I wanted to talk and take pictures more.
The way to my home, I felt like that I was in some place far removed from reality. (438 words)

IAICS 1

IAICS (International Association for Intercultural Communication Studies) was held at KGU from September 17th to 20th and I worked as a student assistant. It was a great opportunity to know many things about me and people who were from all over the world.

On July, Prof. Sato introduced this works to students who attended his classes. When I heard his explanation, I really wanted to be the student assistant. Then, I applied for that at the web site. However, the application was reached the fixed number of people. I was very sad because I wanted to be an official student assistant. Then I applied as a volunteer.

On September 16th, I got an e-mail from Prof. Yoneoka. It was an invitation that I could be an official student assistant because some official student assistant cancelled it. I was very happy to hear that. So I could be the official student assistant. At that noon, I visited her and helped her prepare the conference. My work was confirmation of materials. Some graduate students worked too, and they helped me type into a PC. They were very kind and speaking English well.

On Sep. 17th, a friend of mine who were the student assistant and I went to Kumamoto International Center. I was informed that my work was meeting and conducting guests, who were from several airports, at Kumamoto Kotsu Center. Before that, we had to be passed nameplates so we went there. Then Prof. Yoneoka told us to take some family who were from Persia to a hotel which was near the Kotsu Center. So we took them to the hotel. It was a first time I talked with the guest in English so I tensed a little. However, they were very kind and spoke slowly to us. Thanks to them, I could enjoyed talking with them. After we took them to the hotel, we went to the arrival stop. A few minutes later, a bus which came from the airport arrived at the stop. Some Japanese guests arrived first. Next, some group of Chinese arrived and they said they didn't know the hotel where they stayed. So I decided to take them to the hotel but a Chinese guest told me solve a problem. She said that some guest lost her ticket and told that to the bus driver. So I got on the bus and told him about that. He said that she had to pay in cash if she lost her ticket. I told her about that, and she insisted that she certainly bought the ticket so she should not pay. I wanted to agree with her but the driver was wright, so I tried to persuade her again and again. She wasn't convinced me and her colleagues tried to find her ticket in the bus for a while. I was likely to cry. At last, she was convinced me and got off the bus. Just then, one of her colleagues found her ticket!! I felt relieved to see that and I was glad because one of her colleague said 'thank you' to me. After that, I took them to the hotel. When I went back to the bus stop, other group who were from Shanghai arrived so I took them again. On the way to the hotel, one of the member talked to me with smile so I wasn't hesitate to talk with her in English. Next, an American arrived and I also took them to the hotel. Then, I challenged to talk to him about me in English. It was not easy to tell him about that, so I explain using my electronic dictionary. Thanks to it, we could keep talking. She and I went to Kumamoto International Center at 9 p.m. Then we heard the outline of our works from Friday to Sunday. Then we received lunch box and went back to our home. (646 words)

TOEIC test

I took a TOEIC test at Kumamoto chuo YMCA yesterday. It was very tough to me because it took two hours and I went there by the streetcar.
I was informed that the examination candidates couldn't go there because there was no a parking lot. So I had to go there by the either bus or streetcar. Firstly, I wanted to go by bus because I was used to getting on the bus. However, the bus doesn't go direct to my direction. Then I decided to go there by the streetcar. It was a first time I got on the streetcar by myself. In addition, I couldn't read the name of my direction in kanji. So I was very anxiety after I arrived at the stop. I searched the name and the number of streetcar. The information board was easy to understand with clear information. Thanks to that, I could get on the streetcar and arrive at my direction without incidents.
After that, I took the test. I didn't enough time to consider and answer all questions but I thought I could do better than before.
I want to know the score of test soon and study for TOEIC more and more. (200 words and total 2,817 words)

Aug. 11th

Mayu and I went to a gym at KGU. We took a TOEIC seminar and we had lunch at the school restaurant. Then, I had to attend a meeting of my circle, so I went to the room. I didn't see members of my circle for a long time, so I was very happy to see them. After that, I met Mayu who was waiting for me, and we wore clothes to exercise and went to the gym. There were a few people there. Firstly, we weighted ourselves on weighting machines. I understood that I was lack of exercise and I had to build up my muscles.
It was hard to exercise but I could enjoyed exercising with she. I wanted to continue to exercise. (125 words)

Mabo

Midori, Mayu and I went to Mabo at lunchtime. We took a seminar of TOEIC on every weekday morning. After we took the seminar, we decided to go to lunch today. Mabo is often full of people. Fortunately, no one was there today. Mayu ordered a okonomiyaki with udon, Midori ordered a okonimiyaki with udon and cheese and I ordered a okonimiyaki with needles and cheese. I had never eaten the okonomiyaki with udon. They gave me a piece to that. It was very good, so I want to have it next time. I enjoyed having lunch and talking with them. The statue was at least two stories high. It was a bearded man sitting on a throne.

I hadn't read this series for a long time. I have read the twilight saga which were long stories and thicker than this series. So it was very easier for me to read.

Jack and Annie went to ancient Greece and they watched the very first day of the Olympic Games. I was surprised because Annie watched it, though girls were not permitted watching the games at that time. I thought Annie was very brave girl.

I didn't know that the ancient Chinese, Irish and Greek believed the Milky Way in several ways. Morgan's explanations were very romantic. If I have a enough time to watch the stars, I want to search Pegasus.

Came back from Miyazaki

I came back from Miyazaki to Kumamoto today. I came here with my parents. This homecoming was very nice and I had a good and memorable time. For example, I went to vote on the general election with my mother. It was a first time I went to vote. I was very tensed up for writing the name of candidate and putting a ballot paper in a ballot box.
Next, I enjoyed driving. I often drove while I was in Ebino. I had never driven at night but I could drive at night by myself. I became to control car's speed. My brother said he was a little frighten of centrifugal force at a curve. I wanted to have my own car!
I want to enjoy the rest of my vacation. (130 words and total 2,209 words)

She was so closed to what she wanted – the focus of her whole existence for more than a year now was just so close.

Her plan was as obvious as it was practical. The big blond boy would attack Edward. As soon as Edward was sufficiently distracted, Victoria would finish me.

It was a third of hour twilight saga. It was a very exciting and thrilling story. And I didn’t want to read any more sometimes. Bella was suffered from feeling for Edward and Jacob. Edward was too kind because he hoped not his happiness but her happiness. So he didn’t mad at her when she realized her feeling for Jacob. Then I realized how he loved her. So I was very glad that she chose Edward in the end. However, I couldn’t feel at ease to her decision. I thought she would be beside herself if Jacob appeared suddenly. I hoped that she was in love with Edward only.
The descriptions of history were difficult for me to understand. I wanted to try to read again and understand these histories. There were many expressions in the writings so it was also difficult. I wanted to acquire expressions like that. I thought it was the most memorable that “Gotcha” which Alice said. I felt how cute she was. And I thought Jasper and her kept lovely relationship.
The next story is last. So I want to read and know the denouement soon.

Aug. 19th

Some friends of mine and I went to Aoshima in Miyazaki. I didn't go a sea for a long time. We didn't know how to go there so we followed to a car navigation system. We arrived at some beach but it was not a beach near Aoshima. We asked people how to arrive there. He seemed surprised but told us with kindness. Thanks to him, we could arrived there.

It was cloudy but we could go sightseeing and playing at beach. There were some places to do sightseeing. For example, Aoshima Shrine, Oninosentakuiwa and so on. There were many good-luck charms of love. We bought one of them. Oninosentakuiwa mean rocks which looks like washboards. The rocks were eroded by waves. Then, they looked like washboards for ogres. So they are called Oninosentakuiwa.

Aug. 18th

I helped my grandmother to make "ankomochi." It is a mochi which is covered by bean jam. When I went to her house, she was preparing to make mochi, steaming glutinous rice. After that, we started to make ankomochi. She rolled mochi into a boll with her hands and put them into bean jam which was made by her. Then, I coated them by my hands and put them into some plates. It was very interesting so I enjoyed it.

It took only a few minutes. After that, she washed the things, using rainwater! I was surprised but it seemed good use of rainwater.

My grandparents and I had that ankomochi. It was delicious! I want to be able to make bean jam like her. (124 words)

New moon

There was the faint rumble of a growl in Edward’s chest. I ignored him. “Taking
into account, then, that I won’t you put any of you in danger either way, I want
you to vote yes or no on the issue of me becoming a vampire.” I half-smiled on
the last word, and gestured toward Carlisle to begin.

“New moon” is a second of “the twilight saga” I felt Bella’s overflowing despair was written well. It was very hard to me how she loved him. I heard that the author, Stephenie Meyer, thought the story’s theme was “lost love.” After I read the story, I thought the expression matched very much. She loved Edward, deep down in her heart thought she could not say that to him. I could know her feeling when she fell off the cliff to hear Edward’s voice. The saddest thing was the pages from 85 to 92 because only months were written. I believed that it expressed Bella’s feeling. She should spend time with numb.
I expected Jacob was a werewolf. He was very kind and thoughtful but I wanted Bella not to love him. Because I thought whether she loved him or not, she should feel a whole in her heart.However, I felt happy when they could meet again. I was surprised that she wanted to be a vampire. I didn't want her to be a vampire, I want to know she become or not soon by reading next story.

My old frieds

Yesterday, I met some friends of mine who graduated from the same high school. We were going to meet at a Joyfull in Kobayashi so I went there by a car. Kobayashi is more urban than my hometown, Ebino. So traffic is heavy and there are many two-lane roads. I was very anxious about that before I went out. But I could go there by following a front car.

I enjoyed talking with them. After we had lunch, we went to "Joy plaza" which is an amusement center. Then we took some purikura and did karaoke. It was very exciting and fun. After that, we was going to back our home. But one of them was going to take a bus and thirty minutes left. So she and I went to batting center. She was belonged to a baseball club, so she was very good at batting. I couldn't work well. But I enjoyed it.
I'm looking forward to meet them in winter vacation. (162 words)

First driving

I drove a few times after I got driver's licence last summer. I had no opportunity to drive in Kumamoto, so I didn't drive for a long time. After I went back to my hometown, I started to drive, riding my parents in the car. I ride on a car which my grandfather lent me.
Today, it was a first time I drove alone!! I had to bring a medicine to my grandfather and driving was a only way to go to his house. I felt very anxious to drove alone before I went out. It was the most anxious things to drive a two-lane road because I had never driven like that road. Fortunately, I could drive all the way without incident.
The day after tomorrow, I may have to drive alone again. In addition, my destination is twice farther than my grandfather's house! I hope I can enjoy my little journey! (152 words)

twilight

I stared because their faces, so different, so similar, were all devastatingly,
inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you ever expected to see except perhaps on
the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine. Or painted by an old master as the
face of an angel.

I read “Twilight.” It took for four days to finish reading. It is one of the greatest novels that I have ever read. I thought there were many appeals of this novel. Edward was one of them. His talks were really sweet. Every time I read his sweet talks, I got embarrassed. For example, “You are my life now.”
It was very scary for me that Laurent considered Bella as snack for vampires. Then Laurent said to Carlisle, “You brought a snack?” I felt that it was a real vampire’s attitude toward human.
I like this novel rather than Harry Potter series. In addition, this novel is easier to read. I read Harry Potter series last summer and it was very hard to read. I couldn’t read almost of sentences without using a dictionary and a guide book. In case of “Twilight”, I didn’t need to use a dictionary not so often.

Since I started to read Twilight, I have been a bookworm. Because I read it almost of day time. It was very wonderful and exciting story and I want to know the continuation of the story. It was hard for me to read it with my limited vocabulary, also there are many words which I don't know. I often ignore them and keep reading. Anyway, I want to finish reading as soon as possible. Started summer reading!

I ordered two books at "Amazon.co.jp" on last Tuesday. I got them yesterday!! I'm going to read the Twilight saga and I bought "Twilight" and "New moon." It was a love story of a girl and a vampire boy. I was recommended by a friend of mine. She said it was really interesting, so I decided to read them. I have started to read the first book of them, "Twilight," since yesterday. It is thick book to me... But I want to read all during this vacation. If I can read both books, I want to try to read "Eclipse" and "Breaking Down."
Now I have finished reading 60 pages. (109 words)

I went back to my hometown today's evening. The more I closed to Ebino, the more I thought my hometown is country. There are many rice fields which are bright green. I will be there until the end of the month. My house was remodeled during I was in Kumamoto. My house is a much better and wider than before. In addition, it smells of woods. I like this smell very much. I want to enjoy staying at my hometown. (81 words)

Training room

Today, a friend of mine and I went to a training room at KGU. It was a first time I went there.
We wanted to change clothes in a dressing room but it was closed. Then we changed clothes in a bathroom. After we changed clothes, we went to the room. There were a few people there. Firstly, we measured our weight, body fat mass, muscle mass and so on. I didn't measured my weight and body fat mass for a long time. In addition, I had never measured my muscle mass and BMR. So it was good opportunity to know my health. Next we started to do training. It was very hard to me. We worked hard at training for one hour.
My muscle mass is not enough.... So I want to keep training to increase a muscle!! (138 words)

Aug. 2nd

I changed my hairstyle a little. I cut my forelocks, dyed my hair dark brown and had a permanent. I wanted to cut my forelocks for a long time. It was a long time before I finally came to a decision. After I cut them, I think I look like Korean! Because my forelocks are little shorter than I expected. Anyway, I satisfied with my new hairstyle! (61 words)

Aug. 1st

I went to shopping with a friend of mine. She and I promised to meet at about 10 a.m. But I got up at 10:10 a.m. and I sent an e-mail to her as soon as possible! Fortunately, she had not gone out her house. Then we met at 11 a.m. and went to shopping. We were going to buy clothes at Kamitori and Shimotori during a sale. She bought some cheap clothes and I bought three socks. After we enjoyed our shopping, we had doughnuts at mister doughnuts. There were various doughnuts so it was difficult to decide which I would eat. I have two doughnuts and one pie with gratin. It tasted very good and I wanted to have more. After we had them and enjoyed chatting, we went back to our house.

After that, I went to dormitory for exchange students in KGU. It was second times I went there. Yurie and I went there to meet Sou who are Chinese and speak Japanese very well. Then we enjoyed talking about each countries at a room. Sou knew many things about Chinese culture, temperature and so on. I couldn't tell her about Japan well so I noticed that I have to know about Japan more. When we were talking, some American students came to the room. It was a good chance to talk to them in English. However, I couldn't do that. I could only listen their English and talked to them in Japanese. During I went back to my house, I thought about the thing at the dormitory. I want to be able to talk to them in English. For the purpose, I want to visit there more. (282 words)

Today's schedule

This is my schedule today. I am going to see a doctor after the class. Then I will have a lunch which is udon. I like udon very much so I sometimes make udon by myself. today I am going to make yaki udon. Yaki udon means grilled udon with soy sauce, it is easy to cook and I don't use spoon. Every time I make it, it has different taste. I hope I can make good one today. Then I will go to school library to do my homework. I have to write two short papers. I did one a little yesterday, so I will organize it today. (109 words, total 10,191  words)

To my host family

Hello. I’m Yoshiko. I’m very glad to stay with you this summer. Let me tell you about myself. I study English at KGU. I’m interested in foreign languages, especially English. Recently, I have started to study French and Korean. I want to be able to teach Japanese to foreigners, if you are interested in Japanese, I want to teach you as much as I can.
Talking of my likes, I like sports very much. I especially like badminton and baseball. When I play some sports with some of my friends, they say I’m very competitive. I sometimes continue to play the game until I win the game.
I like cooking these days. I try to cook Chinese dishes and dessert. Do you feel you know something about me now?
Next, let me tell you about my family. There are five people in my family. My father works at city hall. He is interested in various things. My mother works at a preschool.
